Turtle

The small turtle is called a Dessert tortoise. My husband and I found this one on the way home from the Chiricuhua Mountains. For the first time we saw a tortoise in the wild. My husband stopped in the middle of the road just to move this turtle to the side, for he doesn't like to hit the turtle. He always does that, everytime he sees animals in the road, he always slows down or stops until the animal has safely crossed.

This big one is called an Aldabra Tortoise. This was my first time that I've ever seen a huge turtle. You can even ride on his back :). These turtles can live for over a hundred years. Isn't it amazing that they can live so long compared to some other animals?  For their diet, the big one will eat grasses and leaves. In the Zoo they enjoy fruits such as apples and bananas. While the small one, in the wild they eat cactus fruit that falls on the ground.
